Willie Nelson
born born April 30, 1933
Before he was recognized as a singer in his own right, Willie Nelson wrote hits for other artists including "Hello Walls" (Faron Young) and "Crazy" (Patsy Cline).
One cannot comtemplate the history of country music without his presence in the medium. Mr. Nelson is 75 today and truly one of the greats.
In the twilight glow I seen her
Blue eyes crying in the rain
When we kissed goodbye and parted
I knew we'd never meet again
Love is like a dying ember
And only memories remain
And through the ages I'll remember
Blue eyes crying in the rain

Someday when we meet up yonder
We'll stroll hand in hand again
In the land that knows no parting
Blue eyes crying in the rain.

Barbra Streisand , born April 24, 1942
Miss Janey has idolized Ms. Streisand for as long as she can remember. Transcending generations, hers was about the only music of Mama Janey's that Miss J loved, too. Miss J listened to Barbra and tried to mimic her every vocal nuance- no easy feat for a teen, or anyone. She is an amazing talent, a force and an inspiration.
"I've been called many names like perfectionist, difficult and obsessive. I think it takes obsession, takes searching for the details for any artist to be good."
"Men are allowed to have passion and commitment for their work... a woman is allowed that feeling for a man, but not her work."
"I just don't want to be hampered by my own limitations."
"My biggest nightmare is I'm driving home and get sick and go to hospital. I say: 'Please help me.' And the people say: 'Hey, you look like...' And I'm dying while they're wondering whether I'm Barbra Streisand."
Barbra Streisand Official Website
from Wikipedia:
"She has won Oscars for Best Actress and Best Original Song as well as multiple Emmy Awards, Grammy Awards, and Golden Globe Awards.
She is considered one of the most commercially and critically successful female entertainers in modern entertainment history and one of the best selling solo recording artists in the US, with RIAA-certified shipments of over 71 million albums. She is the highest ranking female artist on the Recording Industry Association of America's (RIAA) Top Selling Artists list.[1] She has sold approximately 145 million albums worldwide.[citation needed]"
Suck on that, Britney and Mariah.

Siggi
It's gloomy and rain-drenched here in SoCal today. These hats by Siggi are a perfect distraction.
from the Courier-Journal.com, Louisville, KY
The Annabelle Siegfried Hesbacher, known just as Siggi, studied art and design in Germany where he graduated in 1980. He moved to England and gained essential skills in tailoring, cutting and sewing through hands on experience in a shop on London’s Portobello Road. At the same time he learned hat making by working with Francis Wilson, the theatrical designer, who made head-dresses and hats for stage, films and museums.

January 5
I cannot be overstated how much MIss Janey admires the work of Mr. Robert Duvall, born 5 January 1931.
He has given life to some of Miss J's favorite literary characters: Boo Radley, To Kill a Mockingbird, Tom Hagen, The Godfather, Lieutenant Colonel Bull Meechum, The Great Santini, and 'Gus' McCrae, Lonesome Dove. He made these characters even more human with his sensitive portrayals.
He won an Academy Award for his intense portrayal of an alcoholic country singer in Tender Mercies (a must see, if you haven’t already). He wrote, directed and starred in The Apostle. According to IMDB, “He has been had a role in more American Film Institute Top 100 films (six), than any other actor. To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), Apocalypse Now (1979), The Godfather (1972), The Godfather: Part II (1974), MASH (1970) and Network (1976). Robert De Niro and James Stewart were each in five.”
